Why Walking Sticks?

Now that you have read my Little Ann story, you are probably wondering why I chose to start a company based on walking sticks. To be honest, there was no real reason at first. I just thought that it would be cool to do something with the sticks Ann was finding on our walks and a walking stick is what came to mind.

Then, as I got more excited and invested into this idea, it turned out to have more meaning to me than just a walking stick. I realized how much I cherish and value simply going on a walk. Having Little Ann has made walking every day pretty much a non-negotiable task in my life. In college, when I lived right next to a huge desert, we always took long walks where she could run and play, and I could slow down and think. I would plan a walk into every day, and we rarely missed one even in the snow. I loved living next to the desert and being able to let Ann run free while I walked around. This was one of the top reasons I loved living in Pueblo Colorado.

Eventually, I moved, and life changed but I realized if I was ever off center or felt like life was falling apart it was because I hadn't been walking. I also realized that when everything felt hopeless or messy, the one thing that I would want to do, is go on a walk. It took me four years to understand how mentally and physically rejuvenating a walk can be. I realized just how cluttered our brains can get from life and how easily we give into anxiety and fear. The only full proof antidote I have found is taking a walk, and if you don't want to take my word for it there is tons of science that proves this fact as well.

That is why I created a company based off walking sticks, because I want people to understand and see just how amazing the simple act of walking outside can be. I think if people in the world today took a walk and just had time to think for themselves, we would all be in a lot better place. So, in times of hardship and trial, or even peace and happiness, I recommend taking a walk.
