Don't Quit

Did you know it takes about 20 hours to become decent at any skill?

That means until you've invested at least 20 hours into something, you shouldn't expect to be “good” at it.

Those 20 hours are about learning, creating a flow, and discovering what the skill actually involves.

After that, you can refine, adjust, and decide whether to keep going.

One powerful way to test if it's something worth pursuing beyond those first 20 hours is to ask yourself:

“Knowing what I know now about this activity or topic—things I didn’t know before—would I still choose to do it?”

This helps you avoid quitting before you’ve built a basic level of knowledge—while also protecting you from continuing something you clearly don’t enjoy.

I believe we all want things in life, but we often don’t realize what’s actually required to achieve them.We like the outcome but forget to examine the process. That’s where dreams go to die.

We must have a plan.We must follow an outline that pushes us beyond the “this is new and exciting” phase. Because everything feels great at the beginning—but you don’t find out how much you want something during the easy parts.

So give yourself a framework: Want something? Dedicate 20 hours to learning or practicing it. Then ask: “Knowing what I know now, do I still want this?”

Then go from there. Do something else, try something new, go another direction.

Just don't quit. That is when you really lose.
