The Grass Isn't Greener On The Other Side, You Just Suck At Watering

Have you ever heard the saying, "the grass is greener on the other side"?

Well, I have decided that this saying is crap.

Over the years, I have noticed that my mind chronically hops to new things when it gets board.

I have decided to call this yard hopping.

I keep painting myself a picture of "the grass is greener over there" mind set whenever I get board or life gets hard.

I can paint a very great picture and happy life view when I start something new and have a full green yard as I like to call it.

Then, as time goes on, my yard starts to die because I am not doing the right things to maintain it. Then, like clockwork, I start to look at what other people are doing and assume the grass is greener on their side of the fence so why not bail?

I think that is where the whole "the grass is greener on the other side" saying can be very dangerous. I get its overall meaning, but honestly, I think it fucks people up more than it gives them hope.

If I’m not watering the grass I have, what the hell kind of good is hopping to a new yard going to do? I just keep killing new patches of grass.

I have been getting so frustrated because I can't seem to just find something to grasp on to, but I think it’s because I keep bailing when my shit starts to die.

I have noticed I do it with a ton of things in life, and it's a hell of a habit to break.

I have also started to notice that a lot of people do this in life in multiple areas. We do it with new diets, new jobs, new ways to be organized.

You know how it goes, you start that new thing that you saw someone else doing and is successful at and you're all excited about it because you want to be that way too. Then all the sudden a few days or weeks roll by, and you don't do all the shit you should be doing, and what you are doing is half assed, and everything seems to suck.

Then, we look at the other side of the fence and see someone else being successful doing something different with a perfectly green yard and we hop the fence to try what they are doing.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I do this shit a ton.

The only catch is, when we yard hop, we don't change a damn thing about ourselves. We take all our bad habits and lazy ass mind set and apply it to a new area thinking all the sudden we are going to be successful.

We are just killing grass left and right and then stand there dumbfounded as to why "everyone else seems to have it better". They don't have it better, they just spent time watering their dead yard instead of up and leaving it.

That is my goal this year.

Stay in my yard, keep watering my shitty dead grass, and keep praying a flower or some shit will grow.
