I firmly believe you cannot find balance without extremity.
Maybe I am wrong, maybe it's something that only applies to me, or maybe it’s just something not a lot of people are willing to accept, but I believe in it whole heartedly.
I mostly apply this concept to changing yourself and your identity. In my mind I cannot understand how people think they are going to be something completely opposite without full force BEING the complete opposite.
For example, let’s say ever since you were young your family was always late to events, and now that you are an adult, you are naturally always late to events. So, this means, for about 20 years you have been trained, practicing, and always okay with being the one person who is never on time.
Correct me if I am wrong, but 20 years to being doing something is one hell of a long time.
So, let’s say you wake up tomorrow and decide, "I hate being late all the time, I'm going to be on time where ever I go from now on".
Now think about this, you are making a drastic change to your current self.
Yet you believe you can do it with balance?
You are telling me you are going to fix 20 years of being late by just being on time when it matters, or when everything went perfect for you that day, or when you get your random motivation kick?!
Fuck no. Get Real. Humble yourself.
Nobody is doing that shit.
You must go the extreme opposite to become the extreme opposite.
That means, I am going to show up five minutes early to every single damn thing I go to even if I'm not meeting a single person there, I am going to be early for myself.
That means no compromise and for a while, no "balance".
You can't tell me you can change your entire identity with balance. Maybe it is something you can have eventually, sure. But in my mind, we don't need balance to change, we need fucking boundaries and an extreme mental shift.
Think about it.
